Tally still closes the books. As a plant grows, quotes, stock and GST paperwork live in other places.

Tally is where most Indian manufacturers start. It is a good product for accounting and basic stock.

Plants grow. Between about ₹ 50 crore and ₹ 500 crore, the cracks usually show in the same places.

## The first cracks

Quotes go out on email, get revised on WhatsApp, and get approved on a call. A sales order is raised later. An invoice goes out later. Nobody can point at one record for what was promised.

Stock needs more than one store, or more than a desk can hold in their head. The dock is a queue. The spreadsheet is yesterday.

GST paperwork is a second job after dispatch. The invoice is one place. The e-way bill is another.

## The workaround spiral

What most plants do is add tools. A CRM. An Excel sheet for production. Another for stock. WhatsApp for approvals.

Each tool creates a new stitch. People re-enter. The MD calls four people for one number.

The cost is not software. It is decisions made with an incomplete number. Stock bought that was already in transit. A price that had already changed. A payment missed because the reminder sat in a chat.

## What the move looks like

An ERP for this stage holds the job and the books together. Sales, production, materials, quality and finance share one ledger. GST documents are made from the same record as dispatch.

The fear is the history. Years of Tally data. Every customer, every vendor, every voucher.

We read Tally and spreadsheet data and validate it before go-live. You review what we are unsure about. History comes with you. That is part of implementation, not a named product.

## How to know you have hit the limit

* Your team spends more time reconciling tools than using them
* You cannot answer stock without calling someone
* GST needs a dedicated person for days every month
* Sales approvals live in WhatsApp because there is nowhere else

None of these are signs of a failing plant. They are signs of a growing one.

If this is familiar, bring a Tally export. We will show you what it looks like in Mach ERP.
